Tales and Literary classics talk about a blood- thirsty creature that prowls the night in search of a prey to dig their cunning teeth into squashy skin. Stories of many blood- suckers can be traced back in time. Legends of people drinking blood, bathing in them and offering blood for worship are found in many cultures throughout history. With this, there are a variety of origin, nature and history commemorative to vampires. One obvious remembrance about them is putting on vampire tattoos.
There are people attracted to the enigmatic power of vampires and the mystery lurking within. The darkness and shadows in each one exudes an aura of some death-defying character. Taking-on vampire tattoos as a mark or emblem is a mature step to courage, authority and dominion. It is practically taking a stand, as if saying, "I can do it!"
In a society, that generally follows norms and standards; the good, the right and the acceptable, putting a vampire tattoo is a bit too different and extra-ordinary. It is breaking the limits and the bounds of the usual, the ordinary and the "playing safe" sort of thing. It creates a sense of style that is unfazed in the midst of either mediocrity or excellence. Vampire tattoos are uncommon, unique and highly regarded as mystical, mysterious, mythical, sensual and even magical! Vampire tattoos, in a way, reinforce the quest to immortality and inviting the power of the unknown. Common tattooing, mostly for a traditional and culturally sound purpose has been practiced worldwide. For instance, the indigenous people from Japan called the The Aniu, put on traditional facial tattoos. The same goes with the Berbers of Tamazgha and the Maori tribe of New Zealand. The Polynesian cultural group and the tribal groups of the Philippines, Borneo, Cambodia and Micronesia also practiced tattooing.
There are people, however, who find fondness and amazement in another kind of tattooing - getting inked with some kind of darkness and mystic appeal in vampire tattoos. This is another side of the coin. It is not instigated, culturally. The sense of mystery, the thirst for something drives a person to be magnetized by vampire tattoos. Vampires are dark creatures of the night. They defy mortality by feeding on blood from humans and entirely sucking the life out of them. Overcoming death is their plight and etching a vampire tattoo on your body connotes a new- found strength, distinctiveness, power and superiority. It is taking the lead to be unique and special.
