Preparing For Your First Tattoo

Life flows more smoothly when you know what to expect. It just seems easier than not knowing. It is the same way with getting your first tattoo. You could just walk into a tattoo shop; flip through a book, and say, "I want one of those" without any preparation. What if the tattoo artist isn't good? What if you can't sit still because you are too tired, or haven't eaten? You want to be ready when the needle starts heading your way.

We will discuss some simple things that you would want to know about before you head out for that first tattoo experience. Getting tattooed is really a very simple experience if you are prepared. We will help you make this experience go more smoothly, and also mention some things that you may want to watch out for, so you don't have to go back another time.

EAT! We all need to eat, and hunger can make an already stressful situation much worse. Getting your first tattoo can be a big step. A nice meal is a wonderful way to celebrate this new page in your life. It can also put you in a good mood, and be sure to treat yourself. Make sure to eat a few hours before going in. It will help you relax. Don't be surprised if the artist asks you if you have eaten. Your tattoo may take HOURS. Also, stay away from too much sugar; you will need to be able to sit still.

No caffeine! It will most likely make you jumpy. It may be hard to sit still, and stay out of the bathroom. Stick to the water. Being hydrated is always good too. Be careful there too though, could cause frequent bathroom breaks like the coffee.

Be well rested. You may feel the pain more if you are over tired. You may find it hard to sit still also. Being tired can make you grumpy or whiny. That is not how you want to be acting when there is a man next to you with a needle. Getting a tattoo will only aggravate that situation.

Don't go out drinking the night before. Going in with a hangover only result in bad things. You will be tired from the night before, and may get sick while there! Also, listening to the buzzing endlessly while having a killer headache will make your time at the shop seem like an eternity. Make sure you are healthy for your appointment, instead of home in bed, sick.

Be clean. The tattooing process needs to be very sterile. You don't want to contract any infection. The shop puts forth enormous effort to ensure that the atmosphere is as safe and sterile as it can be for your safety. It makes no sense for you to do anything to jeopardize that situation. Coming from the gym would just be disgusting. Also, over doing the deodorant or perfume can make a bad situation too. You don't want your artist to rush because he can't breathe comfortably.

In closing, eat well, rest, don't go with a hangover, and you will have a great experience!
