It is a fabulous feeling when you get up from a chair and realize you have a brand new tattoo on your skin. You get to show it to everyone and it is with you for life. It is even better when you are able to give someone else this same joy. You can even give yourself the same treatment, if you have the right materials and practice enough. Read on to learn how to set up a tattoo gun.
Firstly, you should know that no one in the business actually calls it a gun. Yup if you are a serious artist or plan on being one, you should refer to it as a machine or iron. These are the terms used in tattoo parlors all over the world.
Secondly, you will need the following materials to start out. You should have an ink pen, guitar string, a couple of sewing needles, a little battery operated motor (this is generally found in Walkman players), some kind of adhesive like tape, a toothbrush and an eraser from a number two pencil. Once you have all of these you are ready to begin.
Thirdly, you will want to get about five inches of guitar string and bend it some at the end. You will want to take out the ink straw in your pen and make it about four inches long and take the brass ball off at the end. You will need to make sure the opening is big enough for a needle to pass through it.
Fourthly, take the needle and put it into the tube and lambastes the head of the toothbrush. You will need to get a hold of a light or some kind of heat. This is only until it's soft enough to bend into a L shape. This is all important to know when you are learning how to set up a tattoo gun.
Fifth, take the adhesive and join both the tube and needle to the longer end of the "L". You will need to push the eraser onto the motor shaft and make sure it is centered. You can attach the motor to the short end of the "L" shape.
