If you're a talented tattoo artist and you've been gathering experience working in someone else's tattoo shop, you'll probably be looking to start one yourself one day. If you are, then it's highly advisable to seek out the best tattoo equipment that you can lay your hands on because although it may seem more expensive straight away, in the long term it will definitely save you money because it will last so much longer.

Used equipment can be tempting to opt for, but not only do you run the risk of it not working as it should, the chances are that it will need replacing a lot quicker than a new piece of equipment and so could end up costing more.

There is so much to take into account when setting up a tattoo business, having an artistic talent is not enough on it's own merits. Once you've got your premises and your licence, getting the equipment, getting a portfolio together and getting customers through the door who trust you to carry out a procedure that will change their appearance for life is not easy.

As mentioned above, you should really have had some experience working in someone else's shop before you go it alone and so try to build up something of a portfolio during this time so that when you do set off to do it alone, you have something to show people as evidence that you are good, rather than just having to make people trust you right off the bat.

Back to tattoo supplies, another tip is to have a look at online retailers because they will often provide the same high end brands but for a better price because of the savings naturally procured with an online store.
