Buying Tattoo Equipment Online in 2010

With the proliferation of every industry and commercial supplier moving towards an internet based system to facilitate the transaction between a buyer and a seller - in this case, the company website and an internet website surfer - there have never been more options for the consumer buying items online. The situation is conducive to both the buyer and seller getting what they want. The former gets options to find the best price, and the latter gets an increase in customers.

What does this have to do with tattoo equipment? Well, the tattoo equipment industry is not immune to this move over to selling items online, as no industry is. This means that for both professional and amateur tattoo artists the options have never been better for getting your equipment online.

With this in mind, let us review some basic principles in buying this type of equipment online.

1. Do not necessarily go for the big vendors.

Sure, the big vendors moved over from selling in magazines, direct mail, and catalogs, to then setting up their own commerce sites and selling from this standpoint. But the internet is the great leveler. A guy who learns how to cut costs and sell his own tattoo equipment directly to the buyer can undercut a big seller. So do not necessarily go for the biggest and most well known tattoo supply vendors. The "business next door" guy may offer a better price and more personalized service.

2. Use online classified sites, but use them with caution.

There are about a million scams going on in the biggest free classifieds ads site on the internet. It is so popular, it is name not even need be mentioned. But the point is that there can absolutely be deals for tattooing equipment on this site, but do not let common sense fall to the way side when an astounding deal is found.

Remember the old saying that says if something sounds to good to be true, then it probably is not? Still just as true in 2010 as it was back in the day.

Another point related to classified ads site is to ensure the equipment is new. If it is new, it should be sanitized properly, and of course, no one should be buying or selling used tattoo needles as this is against the law.

3. Give repeat business to businesses that are worth it.

Establishing good vendor relations is a great way to simplify your business. Once a good tattoo equipment dealer has been found, with nice prices on tattoo machines, needles, different types of tattoo ink, sanitation equipment, chairs, and so on - consider sticking with them. In the long run, having a reliable vendor is better than constantly shopping around for a better price.
