There is no one reason why a person chooses to get body art

. Some people do it to honor a part of their past, while others do it to honor something that is currently in their lives

. Then, there are the people who get body art simply as an act of rebelliousness

. These are the people who often end up with patches of skin that clearly indicate the presence of removed tattoos

. In order to understand why, especially in people of certain skin pigmentations, removed tattoos are especially noticeable, it is important to understand both how a tattoo is applied, as well as the process one needs to undergo in order to have it removed

. When a person gets a tattoo, the first thing that becomes quite noticeable is the fact that the only way a tattoo can be applied is through the use of an electric needle

. The ink is injected into the upper layers of the skin through the many minute holes that the electric needle makes

. This is why sometimes a person will bleed after getting the tattoo

. As for why tattoos that was meant to be permanent end up being removed tattoos, there are actually a variety of different reasons

. Sometimes, a person is enamored with the subject of their tattoo at one point of their life, and then as they get older, they feel that the tattoo does not represent who they are anymore

. Or, perhaps the person did not like the overall design of the tattoo

. Whatever the reason, the safest way to get rid of a tattoo is through laser treatments

. The heat of the laser gradually removes the upper layers of the skin in which the tattoo ink resides

. These treatments are spaced out over a period of time so that the skin does not become scarred

. However, it is important to note that despite the most diligent of treatments, removed tattoos can still be slightly visible in the form of a lighter pigmentation in the area where the tattoo once was

. One of the main reasons for that has to do with the kind and color of ink that was used

. India ink was a type of ink that was used prevalently a couple of decades ago

. However, it had the potential to be toxic

. Those people that once had tattoos that were made out of India ink probably found that they were especially hard to get rid of as well, because that kind of ink permeates more than a couple of skin layers

. In general, darker shades (especially black) of the tattoo ink are also hard to remove

. Another reason that irregular pigmentation might remain where a tattoo once was is because of where the person had the tattoo done and what their skin pigment is

. For instance, there are some people who had their tattoo done on areas of their body where the skin is especially thick

. The thicker and darker the skin, the more stubborn the tattoo will be to get rid of

. However, medical technology is advancing, so when a person wants to get rid of a tattoo, it will really be a thing of the past

.
