When it comes to making New Year's resolutions, I was never very good at them until about a year or so ago. Then it all seemed to click in to place. I think we all make promises to ourselves that we want to keep but ultimately we won't unless we decide to utilise the full power of our willpower. Back in 2008, I decided that it was time to keep up with my promises and follow through on them.
Well in 2010 I made the bold decision that I would head down the route of getting a tattoo performed on my body. It was an idea that I have been toying with for a while but I had just never got round to following through with it. Well just like the previous two years when I had made my resolutions I decided that I would see them through and headed for the tattoo store/parlour and enquired about what I wanted.
The artist grabbed hold of some tattoo supplies out the back of the store and started to run through with me what I wanted to have done. I then informed him that I wanted to get something original and different from the standard designs and we sat down with a sheet of paper and worked on the new design. He then worked out the amount of tattoo supplies he would need to complete the job and we agreed on a fee.
It was strange to me the amount of equipment and tattoo supplies that we actually required to perform the job. I had naively assumed that it was a simple job and there was little for the artist to consider in the way of tattoo supplies. However, after having a chat with him, he quickly explained that it was like any other job, where you had to ensure that you had enough stock in to make sure that you could perform the next job.
It also shocked me about the cost of performing the tattoo; it wasn't a cheap thing to get done. However, after browsing for tattoo supplies online I quickly found out that the ink and medical equipment needed to perform the task wasn't cheap either.
However, as the day approached tattoo supplies were the last thing going through my head. Maybe it was because it was my first tattoo but the fear hit home. I needn't have worried, it went fine and now I have a great tattoo on my arm and I have continued to follow through on my New Year's resolutions.
