If you don't like the ones that are available in your local tattoo shop, well you can make your own tattoo designs. If you are thinking that it will be too time consuming a process, think again. The time you spend choosing the right design for yourself is usually, well spent and would probably avoid all the negativity that could result from having a tattoo that you don't like being inscribed on your body.

The first step of course is looking for a design that suits you. As personal preferences vary from person to person, the best design for you is the one that you choose for yourself. Remember that the tattoo will probably stay with you for your entire life (unless you are designing a removable one) and so it should suit your personality as well. You may consult your friends or look around other peoples tattoos. You may also consult your local tattoo artist for further guidance.

How to make your own tattoo design:

The best way to make you own tattoo design is to use designing software or simple image editing tools on a PC. They are easier to work with and provide numerous features for creating simple as well as complex designs. Basically it is easier to create, edit and refine your design electronically using the inbuilt tools rather than on paper. You can scan a hand drawn drawing to be edited on the PC or print your design from the PC and make changes to it by hand, whichever way you prefer. The programs of choice are usually the ones from Adobe or Corel which have a large number features which make complex editing simpler.

You can also download different tattoo designs from the internet and mix and match them to better suit you. Designing programs also allow you the proportionally scale the aforementioned designs opening up further possibilities.

The final steps simply involving bringing you masterpiece to the tattoo artist and telling him/her how and where you want the tattoos to be inscribed on your body. Depending upon the skill and the equipment used by the artist, the replication of the design on your body may vary. Many times the specific colors may not match in the exact way and some trade off in minor details is to be expected. However every artist will try to replicate the design exactly. In the end, you would have the satisfaction of sporting your own art piece on your body.
