- Laser Surgery
The most common method that people use is laser removal surgery. This as the name suggests is using a laser to penetrate into the skin and break up the tattoo pigment in the skin allowing the body to get rid of the ink. The duration of this procedure depends on the size of the tattoo but normally the sessions will be split over a few weeks to months to ensure that full removal occurs.
- Cryosurgery
For this technique what happens is that the tatted area of the skin is frozen down and then an apparatus is used to sand down the inked area to remove the unwanted ink. As you can tell this method is unpleasant and you will have to go through various sessions depending on the size of your piece.
- Excision
This technique involves peeling the tattoo off the body. As you can tell it is not recommended for large pieces but relatively small ones instead. The edges of the skin are brought together and then the tattoo is removed (the area will be numbed to lessen the pain). This method ensures the full removal of your unwanted ink.
Side-Effects
With all surgeries there are side-effects that you have to go through as well. As you can tell from the unpleasant methods above you will be looking at popular side-effects such as scarring, irritation and skin discolouration.
Alternatives
The surgical methods are unpleasant, expensive and will leave you with unwanted side-effects too. There are however alternative that you can use to get rid of your unwanted ink. Such methods are ones that include removal creams which seep into your skin and break up the pigment and as you can tell this won't leave you with any scarring. There are even natural methods too which you can use to take off tattoos that still provides the same effects.
