How to Make a Unique Tattoo Stencil to Win a Contest

The secret of making a tattoo stencil that will win a contest is in the preparation and details of the stencil. When a designer creates a stencil, he or she designs a tattoo to match the client's specifications and makes sure that it turns out as exactly what the client is looking for. Creating a stencil is like a test run before someone actually gets that tattoo design inked on his or her body. As the tattoo artist adds more detail and precision into creating the stencil, the chances of his/her winning a tattoo design contest increase manifold. Since the tattoo enthusiast running the contest is looking for a unique design, it is imperative that the artist understands the specifications well to be able to provide that winning design.
First, the artists draw a design on the paper and make changes until they are satisfied with the final design. Then they carefully review every feature, color and each line. Once they are satisfied with the overall design, they transfer the design on to another page with the help of a carbon paper. It is extremely important to make sure that the transfer paper and the carbon paper are tightly taped so there is no slippage. They may use a pencil to trace the design by pressing hard on the lines so the design transfers completely. They also need to re-check once if all lines of the design are traced before finally removing the paper.
If an artist is fortunate enough to have a thermal-fax machine, the process gets much simpler. All they need to do is draw their design out and put it into the machine. The thermal-fax machine transfers it onto a special thermal paper in just a second or two. There are a number of advantages of using a thermal-fax machine. One, it never leaves smudges that carbon paper sometimes does. Secondly, the image is crisper, cleaner, and a lot easier to work with.
Actually, the basics of making a stencil are not that complicated. What's complicated is designing a stencil that will win a tattoo contest. When any designer submits a stencil for a custom tattoo design contest, it is a sample of his/her fine tattoo designing skills. The tattoo artists gets into a discussion with the contest holder before working on the stencil to make sure that they do not miss out on any detail. Then, they visualize it in their mind as they begin to formulate the design that the contest holder wants. The tattoo designers might make a few experimental drawings to know the scope of the project. Once they have the design ready with them, they carefully put that design on the stencil.
Although, there is no guarantee that a tattoo stencil will win the tattoo design contest, but a detailed and tastefully created stencil certainly gives a tattoo designer a definite edge over other tattoo artists. The trick is to capture what the contest holder is looking for and transforming that idea in reality. Designers should ideally make a couple of versions, adding inputs from their knowledge and experience, so that the contest holder gets a few options to select from. Once the contest holder selects one of the stencil designs, the artist is only required to do some minor changes to make it exactly what the contest holder would like it to be.
Paying attention to detail and providing the contest holder with a professionally created design will give any designer a certain advantage at winning the contest.
