Getting A Tattoo - Whatever For?

Getting a tattoo used to be more of a taboo in the past, where it was often associated with the undesirable underworld, vice and all the negative influences. If you had a tattoo on your body, it meant that you are a bad person and a bad influence. That judgment is passed immediately as long as you have a visible ink on your body, regardless of what your true intention of getting it was. Not that it is completely acceptable now, society has evolved to become more understanding and liberal in accepting that while many hooligans may choose to ink gang-related symbols onto themselves, there are also many nice and normal people who sport tattoos on themselves for a myriad of different legitimate reasons.

Individuality.
In a fast moving world where change happens so quickly, we seek to find ourselves and assert our individuality to tell others what we stand for, what our values and beliefs are, and the things we base our entire life upon. A very good way of expression of individuality is by inking symbols onto ourselves. Besides playing the role of sharing with others what matters to us, these symbols serve as eventual reminders to ourselves amongst all the worldly distractions.

Pure Interest.
The art of the ink has evolved so much throughout the years and is now capable of producing more intricate, complicated designs that the past. Most notable is the emergence of 3D tattoos that look every bit like the real thing. Quite simply, many people get inked without much reasons behind them, except that they look really nice and can almost be considered as an accessory for the skin. The love for freedom of expression also contributes to the reason behind why people are interested in tattoo art.

In Memoriam.
To retain the memories of a person they respect, hold dear or look up to, many people sport in memoriam tattoos of these other person, complete with photograph and name. Usually to remember a deceased person, this is a wonderful method of keeping the memories close to heart.

Together with the other reasons of sporting tattoos and the lowering social stigma that comes with having one, it is undeniably that tattoo art is extremely popular today, and there would only be more and more enthusiasts come on board overtime.
