Deciding to get a tattoo is a very big decision in someones life. So with any big decision you make you should way out all your options and know what you don't want. Of course the excitement of getting an actual tattoo my blur your normal rational thinking. So please keep these following common mistakes people make when getting a tattoo in mind in hopes it will help you not to make the same mistake.

First of all, some people get tattoos too young. Yes they maybe of age but they probably haven't really given the tattoo a lot of thought and just rushed out to get a tattoo just to say they have one.

Also another big mistake some people make is getting a cartoon character tattooed on them when they are young. So what you have to do is think about yourself at your parents age and think will I still like that Mickey Mouse, Tinker Bell, Bugs Bunny etc. tattoo when you are their age? Of course there is the dreaded name tattoo of a boyfriend, lover or whatever that you have to live with even after you are no longer with them. So the rule of thumb is just don't do it. This is definitely something that you don't want when it comes to getting a tattoo. The artist will of course tattoo that lover's name on you but they honestly don't advise to do it.

Lastly, don't start a tattoo and leave it unfinished. This happens more than you think. People start a huge tattoo design that needs to be done in multiple sessions and due to financial reasons can not finish it. This is another thing you don't want when it comes to a tattoo. I mean how weird would you feel walking around with an unfinished tattoo for a long period of time?

Just keep in mind that it is very easy to get a tattoo but you need to make wise decisions when it comes to your tattoo design. Don't assume you will be able to get it covered up by another tattoo because that may not always be the case.
