HISTORY OF TATTOOS

The history of tattoos dates back to around 5000 years ago, when the purpose of tattoo was entirely different from what it is now. Then it signified brotherhood or a tribal community, today it is mostly a style statement and is people do it just because. Each tattoo has a different meaning and it is also different based on the area of the body where you inscribe it. The word tattoo is derived from a tahition word "tatau" which means to mark something. It created by inserting coloured substance, ink into the surface of the skin. Tattoos came into being most probably by accident. Over a period of time and through the ages the concept of tattoos kept on changing and so did the people who made tattoo one their body. In ancient China this was used as something associated with the criminals while in India it denotes tradition and ritual. When you are making a tattoo you have to be careful because you have to keep it on your body for the whole lifetime, thus you are embarking on a long journey and you have to be sure if you want to have that sign on you forever. A whole new world of tribal patterns, mythical legends and what not. You can inscribe the name of the person you live most, religion you belong to or of gods and goddesses. In India, the image of Lord Hanuman is the symbol of strength and that of the mythical monk is still the most popular one in north-east India. Tattoos have a whole new vocabulary and speak things that even clear words can't. It reflects not just the personality of the person but also what he/she wants to convey to others. It is therefore always advisable to know and be sure as to what you want others to perceive you as. Tattoos can mean specific social, political or religious groups. Some cultures associate tattoos to warriors. For some it is simply art. Tattooing is not a new concept. It is not something that media and movies created; rather it has been there imbedded since time immemorial, the difference is just in the variety of people who do it. The purposes for tattooing might have changed but it is still present in our culture. These days people go for the cool tattoos which most often than not have no meaning at all. Today people go for inscription of names on their bodies, names of father, mother or the special someone in their lives. One just has to find the right place to get the cool tattoos. The best idea would be if you did some research about tattoos and know what each design speaks and find a proper place where you can go with the design decided and get the cool tattoo inscribed on your body. a tattoo should depict your innermost self or your belonging to a certain individual. It can be a funky and cool tattoo and yet carry a very deep meaning which only the close ones to you can make out.
